What started out as a pandemic hibernation project is now the fully fledged Montreal-based indie rock unit knitting. Self-described as “guitar music for people who like guitar music”, knitting plays with frayed emotions, self recognition and introspection, to create songs that are earnest and raw. The band – made up of Dempsey, Sarah Harris, Piper Curtis and Andy Mulcair – exhibit palpable chemistry, bringing new life and intensity to knitting’s 2021 lo-fi bedroom-produced self-titled album. After a year of well-attended shows across Canada and the US, and with a second full length album in the works, knitting is setting out to become one of the most exciting new guitar bands in Canadian music.
